Our Architectural Heritage is a unique and exceptional resource. Structures and places that have acquired character and special interest over time have cultural significance in a changing world. TOT acknowledges this cultural significance in our approach to old buildings. We endeavour to preserve, and if possible enhance the character and special interest of such buildings, by adapting them for new uses or by conserving or repairing them. An understanding of the emotional, cultural and use value of building and its enviorns establishes the cultural significance of the property.

Our conservation work ethic follows the following standards:

  • The condition of the building must be recorded before any intervention.
  • Historic evidence must not be destroyed, falsified or removed.
  • Any intervention must be the minimum necessary.
  • Any intervention must be governed by unswerving respect for the aesthetic, historical and physical integrity of cultural property.
  • All methods and materials used during treatment must be fully documented.
