Dublin Chamber of Commerce Offices
The commission entailed refurbishment, restoration and fit-out of No 7 Clare Street, a terraced Georgian House to provide offices, conference rooms and Council Chamber for Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Essential refurbishment works required as part of the restoration included damp proofing of basement, remedial works to earlier structural interventions, strengthening of existing timber floors, rewiring, re-siting and ventilation of file server room, and the refurbishment / replacement of original windows.
The overall strategy has been to carefully salvage and conserve existing material for re-use and to disturb nothing which did not require replacement. In the refurbishment of windows, original glazing bar profiles were maintained, original glass deglazed and reused. Where original plasterwork had been damaged specialist restoration was undertaken.
