Restoration and enhancement of the hotel’s unique architectural features was a priority of the project’s brief. The bedrooms were modernised and enlarged and the conference and leisure facilities significantly expanded. The proposed works were first discussed with Duchas, the national heritage body. The decoration of the hotel is based on the interiors of the Victorian era.
Much of the work undertaken, while invisible to visitors, delivers improved services including new heating and water systems and revised fire safety systems. Energy efficient boilers, heat recovery equipment and modern waste disposal facilities all contribute to a more sustainable management of the facility. The hotel now provides 172 bedrooms. The redeveloped Conference Centre, Spa and Fitness Centre are designed and fitted out in an exciting contemporary style.
