Sneem Hotel
The design of this hotel responds first and foremost to the sites magnificent shoreline setting overlooking Derrynane Bay. Through its’ simple massing and expression, the 3 storey building establishes a presence on the sloping site. A gentle cranking of the plan into three linked elements addresses the bay and reduces the building’s apparent length and mass. The building nestles in the landscape with the use of a rough stone finish to the ground floor, render to the upper floors and a pitched slated roof.
The hotel provides 70 bedrooms, dining, conference and function rooms within an area of 8,200sqm. Screened and landscape surface parking for 268 cars and coach parking is set within excavated areas of the sloping site. The commission included full interior design, furniture selection and fit out of conference, dining, kitchen, and support areas.
