Beacon Private Hospital
The design responds to the demanding requirements of the technical brief and the constrained nature of the site. The seven storey building is configured as an ‘L’ with a central atrium forming the entrance ‘knuckle’ between two wings. An interstitial service floor is provided above the theatres minimising duct lengths and providing independent access to theatre services. Ambulance set down is provided through basement car park.
The Beacon Medical Group initiated the design process in 2003. By September 2006 the hospital was complete, on time and budget, ready to receive its first patients after a construction period of 22 months. A budget of €80 million provided shell, core and fit-out works. The project was awarded 1st place in the category “Completed Healthcare Facility / Design” in the Irish Healthcare Innovation Awards 2008.
