TOT Architects have been commissioned by St Patrick’s Mental Health Services to help define the future of their campus development over the coming years. As part of this strategy, Changing Minds, Changing Lives, 2018-2022, has committed to the development of the physical infrastructure of the Organisation as part of an overarching plan to establish St Patrick’s Mental Health Services as a national hub for excellence in mental healthcare. Our current commission comprises of an additional 13 single bedrooms complete with own en-suite, associated clinical support, staff and daily living accommodation at ground floor level. This phase of development will double the hospitals capacity to deliver the highest standards of Adolescent Care by way of In-Patient and Day-Care service provision. The required additional area has been ascertained to be in the region of 1000 sq/m of floor plate with a further 180 sq/m of existing floor area refurbishment and reconfiguration. In addition to and closely associated with the provision of adolescent care services, it is proposed to develop a first of its kind; National Hub for Mentally Healthy Living (NHMHL). This new Hub will serve as a Research and Advocacy Centre, for the development and promotion of Adolescent Mental Health Awareness, Treatment(s), Education and Out Reach Programs on a continual basis. The required additional floor area has been ascertained to be in the region of 900 sq/m, to be split over three levels and located directly over the proposed extension of the adolescent care unit.
